The exhibition is based on fieldwork carried out at Fensfeltet in 2025. Fensfeltet, in Nome municipality in Telemark, is a geologically distinctive carbonatite complex with extensive rare earth mineralisation, currently estimated to constitute Europe’s largest known rare earth resource.

Bringing together material from the fieldwork, the exhibition reflects on tensions between ecology, extraction, technology and the “green transition”, and asks what becomes visible, and what may be overlooked, when a landscape is understood primarily through its extractive potential.

The accompanying publication, Extractions: Fensfeltet, brings together contributions from the participating artists, extending the exhibition through texts, images and reflections developed in relation to the fieldwork.

“Don’t simplify the conflict, expand the field.”
