FOR YOUR INFORMATION
Document-based participatory performance, 2025
Obrestad / Dølheim
Performed in the forest during the Extractions CoLab fieldwork weekend, with audiences present on open day.
A table, a document, words you already know.
A situation that resembles a meeting, a briefing, a procedural necessity. Something is being reviewed, but it has already been decided. Terminology is delivered with professional gravity, smooth, competent, and sealed, though comprehension is optional. Definitions are provided. Impacts are mentioned. Questions are neither expected nor required. This is not a public conversation. It is a formality.
There are no true options.
By arriving, by listening, by reading, by simply being present, the terms are already in motion. Participation has already begun, consent has already been assumed, and implication is already distributed.
For Your Information stages the bureaucratic language of extraction and land management as a live event, revealing how power circulates through documents rather than debate. The performance invites the audience into a familiar yet disorienting ritual, to listen, receive, observe, and slowly recognise the subtle choreography of exclusion embedded in administrative protocols, expert vocabulary, and procedural authority.
Whether signing or declining, the audience departs having brushed against a system that does not stop at the edges of the table or the forest clearing, but continues outward, absorbed into the world it reflects. The choice offered is not a way out, it is an entry point that reveals something already underway, a reminder that some frameworks do not wait for approval, and some terms are set long before we arrive.
There is no climax, no resolution, no dissent.
Everything proceeds according to established procedure.
